The concept of “Megaphone” is inspired by the string telephone. When a digital device becomes part of the conductor, the intervening in the process of sound transmitting breaks the conventional mode of communication. The staggered transmission and the multiple connections form a new communication network. The sound wave transmission is exposed to the space of sound imagery, which becomes degraded. In the meantime, the sound energies are stimulated and realigned into a new sound, breaking away from the box of “sound visualization.” The image is not only a product of sound but can also function as a musical instrument to create sounds. The whole installation thus becomes a giant musical instrument, where the participants play the roles of player, listener, and viewer when interacting, experiencing an alternative diverse communication mode.
